Leeds Hip and Knee Course homepage

Welcome to the Leeds Practical Hip and Knee Course web page. The 2009 Course will be held on 5-7th May at The Village Conference Centre in Leeds. To enrol see contact details for 2010 course. The Leeds Practical Hip and Knee Course is organised and run by Mr Martin Stone and Mr David Macdonald.

The Leeds Practical Hip and Knee Course is now in its 15th year. It all began when the founders of the course were at an international meeting on Hip Replacement Surgery in 1993. One faculty surgeon after another told the delegates just how wonderful a surgeon they were. This was not helpful to the education of the delegates or to an overall understanding of where the controversies arose in hip and knee replacement. In the bar that evening they (we) agreed to set up our own course which would be purely educational and for the benefit of the delegates in their quest for a better understanding of the practical issues in hip and knee replacement. The first course was in 1995 in Leeds. This is a very special course in that the Faculty are of international standing. They give their time annually without any fees and The Course is based on the philosophy of ?can we help you do better hip and knee replacements while avoiding our early mistakes?. The faculty have vast experience of joint replacement surgery. They lecture around the world and this course has now been copied in many countries around the world. While the course is heavily sponsored by DePuy they have no input in any way as to the education content of the course. We are very grateful to them.
